Simond Women’s Mountaineering Waterproof Jacket

This waterproof and breathable jacket was designed by our mountain guides. It is particularly lightweight to keep you protected on the mountain.The ergonomic design provides optimal freedom of movement. Its adjustable hood can be worn with a helmet and the two large chest pockets are accessible when wearing a harness and a backpack

Product’s waterproofing

The jacket’s waterproof was tested in a rain shower with 100 litres of water / m2 / hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy mountain downpour.

Fabric waterproofing

We measure a fabric’s resistance to a water column, in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure resistance, the more waterproof the fabric. Components 2000 mm waterproofing, resists up to 2000 mm of water pressure (which is roughly equivalent to a rain shower lasting 2 hours).
With waterproofing greater than 10,000 mm, the Alpinism Light jacket therefore offers a very high level of waterproofing.

Fabric breathability

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporate resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric’s resistance, the more moisture, generated by an active body, is evaporated, and therefore the higher the fabric’s breathability.
We consider that if:
– RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric
– 9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric
– RET > 12 = slightly or not breathable fabric
The Alpinism Light jacket’s fabric has an RET of 8.

Hood

The jacket’s hood size makes it compatible with a mountaineering helmet.
It is height and depth adjustable according to your needs.
A semi-rigid visor offers better forehead and eye protection. The high collar provides protection for the lower part of your face.

Pocket and Zip

Outer: 2 large pockets that fasten with taped zips. The pockets are positioned on chest, making it easier to get access to them when wearing a harness.
Inner jacket: 1 zip pocket

Two-way front zip allowing opening from the bottom and a quick access to harness tie-in loop. The zip pulls are easier to handle with gloves.

Product care

Machine wash at 30°C Use washing powder, but do not use a conditioner. Close zips and adjust cuffs before putting in machine. Reactive water repellency with adequate treatment after each wash. Making use of these helps to optimise the effectiveness of your garment throughout their life cycle.
